STAIR GATES
An elegant solution to prevent dogs or small children from racing up your stairs. A brilliant idea from a client who loves Scandi style painted furniture. A talented joiner made the gates and posts to fit, then I painted them with distressed free hand panels.
To create the look for these gates took multiple layers. The panels were crackle glazed before adding the floral design and the red distressed border. The blue facings were added last, then scratched back, to show some warm white below. Finally I rubbed some raw umber over the blue to give more depth and then waxed them to get the final soft finish.
